Saffember

Saffember 2020 is a fest organized to celebrate sapphic love, encourage creativity and it's acceptance all around the world! It will be held throughout the month of September on many major social media platforms!

What does sapphic mean?

The term Sapphic originated from the Greek poetess Sappho who lived on the island of Lesbos and is considered as the Tenth Muse. Her works, though little of them is preserved, are powerful expressions of female sexuality and same gender attraction.

Sapphic love refers to attraction between women or female-aligned persons. Such attraction may be romantic, sexual and or queerplatonic etc. Another commonly used term is wlw (i.e. women loving women)

What can i create?

You can create anything! Be it novels, drabbles, moodboards, fanart, twitter threads or even tumblr posts, all of these are accepted!

You're not an artist? Neither I am! Don't worry, we're here to celebrate sapphic love, ourselves and to have fun and learn from each other's experiences!

Even more, it doesn't matter if you're part of a fandom or not! Our event is both fandom and non-fandom friendly and seeks to create a safe space for queer people!

How do I participate?

Every week in September shall represent a broad main theme that you can base your work on! In addition to that we have two free days when you can submit works outside of the given themes (and when we also accept late submissions).

You are not obligated to participate in every week's theme!

You can find the prompts here!

What about my characters?

We seek to create this fest as inclusive as possible! You can base your art on anyone who you personally identify as a sapphic lover regardless of them being fictional or real! It might even be based on yourself and your interpretation of sapphic love!
